We are having problems with the Microsoft Information Store Terminating unexpectedly. The Error in System Event Log refers to Event ID 7031 which does not give any good information. We have looked through the other event logs but do not find that anything else coinceides with this error. The Server which carries Exchange is W2K Server SP2. The only other programs on the server is Norton AV Corporate Edition Client and PC Anywhere. Please Help.....

Exchange is on SP2? if so reapply-ing sometimes solves problems ;-)
Antivirus is a version supporting your exchange service pack version?

exclude the M: drive

for norton there's a manual on their knowledgebase saying what you should exclude.....

hmm

we have already reapplied the service packs and have the Antivirus Software configured correctly. We also have resorted to opening a case with Microsoft and so far have been on the phone for 3+ hrs trying to find out what is happening. Hopefully the world is not coming to an end. I will update as soon we get solutions.

You probably have an e-mail message which is corrupt. The user who has the e-mail is trying to either delete it or move it to another folder.

We're having this problem right now. isinteg doesn't fix it (doesn't even detect it), the only fix is to backup all other Exchange objects (Calendar, Inbox, Sent Items, Contacts, etc...), blow away the e-mail box and recreate it. Major pain in the ass for us because it's an old message that was pre-Exchange 2000 on this network, so we can't really hunt it down easily except by observing who's e-mail boxes the backup craps out on.

No Exchange Antivirus?

Does this happen with blank stores?
