Hi,

There are two services in Win XP for Informatica
1. Informatica
2. Informatica Reporitory Server

What are they used for?

Whenever I start the 'Informatica' Service, it shuts down after a few seconds. Is it required for anything? Like Workflow manager? Ho do I keep it started?

Thanks for all the help !

Hi

Inorder to run your workflow the Informatica service shou start and run.

First start your informatica repository and then create a repo and in designer create mappings, and in workflow manager before u run ur workflow, start the service and run the workflow immediately..I think the problem you are facing is faced by all the users i guss..I don't know the specific reason for this but...we should try till it works...
If u have any better solution, please share with me...

1. Informatica - runs workflows
2. Informatica Repository Server - runs the repository

The repository service must be running before the other service can run.

Is this a new installation? Do you have a repository defined?

Yes, I have created a repository, folder, mappings.
I have created a workflow and tried starting the 'Informatica' service, but it shuts down immediately. Sometimes I get a message saying the service shut down because it has no work to do.

However, when I run the workflow it always says cannot connect to the server defined in the Workflow manager.

It is a new installation on the local machine using Oracle on the local machine. This machine is also connected to the LAN, itried both while on the LAN and standalone. It always stops with cannot connect to server when I start the workflow.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thank you

Check ur system name and ur informatica server name..I think they shoud be same....

Go to the event viewer and check the application log for informatica. It should tell you why it's shutting down (hopefully). Something is not set up correctly if the service shuts down - like the repository is not tied to the service properly.
