Inetinfo.exe error

Hello all,

One of my clients is getting this error message and proxy shuts down.

They are using sbs 4.5 and the excact error is

inetinfo.exe erro

exception access violation (0xc0000005) at address 0x6bc16296

I have found a solution from Microsoft regarding editing the registry and changing some Netbios settings but i was wondering if anyone else has any ideas.

Go under the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/remove Windows Components and reinstall IIS. If that doesn't work then follow Microsoft's advice. The knowledge base is normally correct.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

I'm have this same problem. Can you point me to the TID you found at Microsoft.

This did work for me but only for a few days. I have also installed IIS 4.0 again to no success.

The only option i have left is to put the default gateway into DHCP and then that will bypass proxy

I think what you are really looking for is to check if:
- This version of w3svc shows that Hotfix MS04-021 was installed.

- Because there is a known issue with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 server. It is caused when an ISAPI filter registers for the SF_NOTIFY_PREPROC_HEADERS notification and handles the request from this notification. In this case, IIS tries to access a non-existent metadata object, and an access violation occurs.

The following filters have been found to cause this problem: • Microsoft Proxy 2.0 Web Proxy filter
• Entrust getAccess filter
• Netegrity SiteMinder filter

Then: you will need to contact Microsoft and get Hotfix 873401
