Does anyone know if there are any courses or self learn tutorials/exams with the end result of getting some sort of formal industry recognised certification for MD110? I have details of various training courses for system administration, installation etc but all you get is an attendance certificate.

Can any employers in the MD110 service industry give me an idea of what you would look for on a CV? I'm wondering if there is something out there for MD110 along the same lines as CCNA for Cisco?

There is nothing that I'm aware of. Like you say, an attendance certificate is all you get from any of the courses.

I think the difference is that the likes of Cisco and Microsoft offer formal qualifications because their products are so big that they need competent individuals to supply and maintain them.

Untill recently Ericsson were supplying and maintaining their products themselves, therefore no need to offer formal quals. Maybe now the whole scenario has changed they might consider it, but is their product really big enough to warrant it?

Ericsson did offer certification last year. However when I approached them about doing it they told me it was being withdrawn as it hadn't proved popular enough??????
It was on the Ericsson Website but having looked around again today I cant see any information on it any more

It is a shame as I would have liked to put something more on my CV too!

My experience with certification:
In 2001/2002 Ericsson had cooperation with VUE ( and a lot of exams were offered, including MD110, BP250, applications,...etc.
I have passed the following:
10-026 MD110 BC11-Basic 1
10-027 MD110 BC11-Basic 2
10-028 MD110 BC11-Install Large & Advanced Systems
After this I became "Ericsson Entreprise Engineer",although I do not have it written anywhere on my certificate...
Later in 2002 Ericsson decided to stop cooperation with VUE and all this exams are now available on internet, at
Unfortunatelly, access is granted only to Ericsson's dealers, resellers and distributors.
Best regards
Radoje
