We justed migrated from a Novell 4.10 server to a Windows 2000 Server (SP3). The clients are Win98 and one Win XP desktop. At least once per day, one of the three most used tables ends up with a corrupted index. The table repair utility is able to rebuild the table and indexes and we do not appear to be loosing any data in the tables. We are running PDox 10 on all of the systems. These problems did not occur while on Novell.

Local Share is set to true on all systems.
All systems are running the same version of BDE.
All systems have latest OS and PDox patches.
Most of the clients are running PDox 10 Runtime.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

have you disabled write-behind caching on the workstations? Mac :)

Also, make sure that opportunistic locking is turned on on the server. Mac :)

In the interim, if only indices are being corrupted, use a reIndexAll() method to rebuild. Much faster than Table Repair. See ObjectPal Help for an example.

That should be OFF, not ON!

I wish this silly board would let us edit. Mac :)

Thanks for the help!!! I set the Win2K server to deny granting of opportunistics by setting:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\EnableOplocks = 0

I have not updated anything on the desktops because I support this systems remotely.

We have run three days with no issues.

THANKS AGAIN!!!
