I have NetWorker 7.3 configured to backup the index and bootstrap to an index pool but the problem is it has stopped appending to the tape in the index pool.

I have checked that the tape is still appendable and still in the correct pool so I am not sure where to look next.

Any thoughts?

Thank you

What's your pool configuration?
What's teh exact error/log message?

Enabled = Yes
Pool Type = Backup
Label Template = Index
Data Source = All groups selected
Clients = Blank
Save Sets = bootstrap, Index
Levels = Non selected
Devices = All Devices selected
Volume Preference = Blank
Max Parallelism = 0
Store Index Entries = Checked.
Mount Class = Default.

all other fields are blank

Thank you

Actually, it is not necessary to select any group as index and bootstrap backups are only created when running a group.

You should not select any device at all. Look at the pool Default (which you can't change at all) - it is not necessary.

For the Save Set list, if you have entered "bootstrap, Index" this in fact would be wrong as such name does not exist. You must enter each save set entry seperately in a new line:
index
bootstrap

Keep in mind that upper and lower case may matter as well.

The selection criteria must be:
bootstarp
index

NOT Index....

try this

Actually the saveset criteria on the pool should be as follows if you want all index savesets and the bootstrap savesets to be directed to this pool:
index:*
bootstrap

Dont forget to disable the "save index entries" on the data pools and make this index pool availabl to those groups.

Your save set list entry for index will obviously work. However, the entry "index" will work as well. And it has worked for years.

Well, I usually create this pool including all the groups of the DataZone (the ones will be started) and in the save set area I insert:
index:
bootstrap

Then I select the device.
