Indesign Weirdness - missing icons, text insertion point

Indesign went weird today... I have totally lost the text insertion point, I can still insert text, I just don't know where it is going to appear (which is pretty suckful when you are doing a 64 page text based magazine).

And to make me even happier, at the same time, a few tools have disappeared. Particularly, that little set of 9 boxes that let you pick where the measurements are taken from on all boxes... which is screwing with my head, as now all measurements are being taken from the centre, and I am a top left hand corner girl. They just disappeared. And if I open a new document, the same thing, all gone. Please help!

Hi all, I have just come across the same issue with adobe indesign on a mac - the icons are displayed as Terminal icons? The only thing that has changed on this system is the File server the files are hosted on has been replaced and instead of connecting via appletalk we are now using smb shares.
Does anyone have any ideas please???
