I am using the interactive area of InDesign. My question is...
In the hyperlinks options > destination area > where it lists Documents > it lists multiple Indd files I have.

When I try this - it will work from the go to destination button in InDesign but is not available after the PDF is created.

The PDF cannot find the document and an error message appears. I gather that this is only a feature that works when you are working with InDesign native files.
Can any one confirm my findings?

Make sure the file structure for the file you are linking to stays the same after you export to a pdf.

If the linked file is in a folder called /resources/pdfs but after you export the file to desktop... the file structure may have changed and the link keeps looking for the old folder.

We have our root working folder (working) then our links folder (working/resources). If the ID file is in /working then you will need to make a folder /resources to put your linked pdf into that will stay in the root /working folder.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks eugenetyson - however it does not allow me to make any other selection - only indd files

I suspect that you haven't created PDFs from the InDesign files.

If you open up the InDesign files that you want to link to, and create pdfs and put them in the same folder, then try the hyperlink, the PDFs will be available.
