InDesign CS3 missing INBOOKLET.PLN

Hello,
I created a file in InDesign CS2 using an "inbooklet.pln" plug-in.
When I open the file in InDesign CS3, a window pops up saying "missing plug-in: inbooklet.pln". I can work with the file after clicking OK, though.
But these windows keep poping up every time I open any of my files and I have many files like that.
Is it possible to switch it off forever?

In CS3, I thing they used the "inbooklet.pln" directly in the program itself and not just as a plug-in but CS3 keeps looking for it every time when opened.


How can I make my files open without the notification of missing plug-in?

It has been a while since I dealt with this but I think you might try saving an INX file from the CS2 installation with InBooklet, remove the inbooklet text from the XML in the INX file with a plain text editor and then open the INX in CS3.

I don't have the CS2 installation anymore. I can open the files only in CS3 now.
Can I tell CS3 not to look for this plug-in anymore?
Or get the CS2 inbooklet.pln to copy it to the CS3 installation?

I don't think InBooklet works with CS3.

I should have said to save INX from either CS2 or CS3.

I tried what you said. I saved the file in CS3 as "file.inx". Then I opened file.inx with notepad and deleted "inbooklet.pln" and saved.
Now when I open file.inx in CS3, it says cannot open file.inx; The file is damaged and cannot be recovered (Error code: 5).
Even if I just open the file.inx with notepad and don't change anything and save, CS3 finds out it was saved by some other program and does not allow to open it. It shows the same error.

Didn't they make any patch? More people, I guess, must have dealt with this problem.
Or is there another way how to correct it directly in the program?

I just ran a test to refresh my memory.

A CS2 file saved while InBooklet was active opens on my CS3 without issues. So I looked at my CS3 to see why I did not get an error. I apparently installed InBooklet 3.0.5 (even though it is not compatible with CS3).

So try installing InBooklet for CS3. It won't work for IDCS3 but the nagging messages on your older docs may vanish.

Also be sure that you InDesign is fully patched.

I tried to install InBooklet 2.1 but during installation an error occurs. I tried few times but it does not work.

I couldn't find any installation file of any version on the internet.


Do you have any InBooklet installation, please?

Can you simply copy the plugin file from a CS2 installation to your CS3 installation?

You can have multiple versions of ID installed on a single computer. They will not conflict.

This I did too.
I copied the inbooklet.pln file right to the plug-in folder of CS3 but when opening, CS3 says plug-in not valid, get a valid plug-in from your vendor. It also says Adobe cannot load the inbooklet plug-in requires a different version of InDesign.

When I check Help/Configure plug-ins, the inbooklet.pln is there but shows a red cross next to it.

The window keeps poping up with missing inbooklet.pln plug-in when the files created w/ CS 2.0 are being open.
