So i`ve set up my file and designed my 16 page booklet (4 sheets of 8.5 x 11). I send it to the printer and he says its not printing on both sides...I have come to the realisation that i dont know what setting to use in the new document dialog box to allow the pages to be set up in such an order. Can someone give me a few pointers?

Get a new printer. It is the printer's job to do imposition. Unless you know the weight of the paper and know the proper creep settings, you should not impose.

If you must impose, then search this forum as imposition options have been heavily discussed. Search for 'impose', 'imposition', and 'booklet'.

...your printer is the service provider therefore has a responsibility to impose pages using a relevant postcript or pdf workflow...

...are these 4 sheets created in readers pairs by per chance? if so this is unsuitable as the pages need to be in readers pairs but as individual pages, not side by side on one sheet, this will mean splitting up the artwork which requires more work. This will be cheaper for you to do this if needed...

...if the pages are in printers pairs then i would be inclined, as jimoblak informs, to search for another provider...

Thanks for that. i was losing my mind this morning wondering what was wrong, because this was really my first big project. I didnt want to gain a bad rep already. But i know i did everything in my power, even numbered the pages manually to allow the printer to understand what goes where. But this site is great for the advice and fast responses. Thanx a mil.
p.s - The printer eventually printed one side and turned the paper over to print the otherside.
