Basically a text frame with an anchored text object and a nested style with text is what Im trying to get from the document. The document title works fine, its just on these sub section titles that is placed in the document it stops. Every other document does fine just these seem to have a problem. I've even tried making just a regular text frame with text on the page to generate that and it still gives me problems
I dont know why it keeps happening to these 4 specifically, but does anyone have any tips on document maintenance in order to correct the problem?

Also can anyone recommend plug in's that have more options to generating a TOC? right now its very tedious to get the specific design I have for the current TOC

I'm not sure what the problem is. One thing that caused my TOC to jump all over the place was that I had a first line indent and on this exactly where the first line indent was, there lay a tab, barely visible.

Did you say you have anchored objects in there? Perhaps that is the problem! I haven't ever tried take anything from documents for a TOC other than text. I'm not sure if images are suported.

The thing about it is all the other chapters have anchored text objects in the specific frames Im talking about and they generate just fine

Can you do one at a time? What happens if you unanchor (for want of a better term) them?

Sounds odd. Have you checked the tab and the first line indent and see if it is lingering there?

Perhaps for these 4 documents you will have to bite the bullet, go old school and set those 4 by hand in the TOC?

Would you be able to put the documents on so I could download it from the link it will provide you.

I would be more than happy to look at them for you.

I found out the problem! sorta
if I delete my master pages from the main document it fixes it, so something on my masters is causing the issue >.<
Welp, I'll find out more as I go along, I appreciate the gesture eugene but my boss would kill me if I did that unfortunately.
One last question I have is with GREP
is there an expression that can look at the end of senteces for numbers and other marks such as commas and en dashs and change them to superscript? Im able to get a number and the period mark for the end of the sentance but not the rest...

If you start off the grep find with a Location (from the drop down list)and choose end of sentence

I can't remember what the character is, but after this goes in put in after it

[\d\.\,\;\'\\]

Then change to superscript.

basically whatever you put in the [ ] will be treated individually. I believe. I can't test this as I'm at home and I don't have CS3 here. But I'll check it out when I get to work tomorrow.

Yeh this is your search

[\)\.]$

you need to put a \ before a punctuation mark or parenthesis to find them individually.

[ ] will find individual instances

and $ denotes to find it at the end of a paragraph.
