I'm using InDesign to create a magazine with a lot of hyperlinks to web pages. It will create a certain number of hyperlinks, and then starts to crash when I create the next one (I highlight the url, create hyperlink from url, and then go into the hyperlink to remove the visible frame, and this is the point that it crashes.) Help!!

What OS, what vs of ID, system specs? More info please... how many links before you crash? Does this happen only on one document, or every docuemnt? The more, concise, complete info you provide the better off we will be able to help.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

This is bizarre behavior that may only be explained if we knew what you were running. What version of InDesign are you using? What operating system?

I'm running 2.0.2 on a Windows XP machine. It happened on the last three or so magazines I produced (I produce one a month) and I thought it was happening because I was 'reusing' a template by stripping the content out and replacing it each month, so I created a new document. The document is 60-odd pages and has 55 hyperlinks in it. The problem started after about the 45th hyperlink. I was hoping to add 20 or so more. Am I just adding too many hyperlinks??

As far as I know, there is no limit to the number of hyperlinks you can have in a document. I will play around with a document today and see if I can duplicate your problem.

A word of advice, if you plan on using a template, then create a template document, or even a blank document that is saved but never written on, erased, written on, erased, etc. Always save-as and use the new document as the file. By continually deleting and creatin new info on an existing document you run the risk of cumulative errors that will haunt you down the road. You always want to start with a fresh, clean slate. Speaking from experience:)

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Okay.. I created a 50 page document and added 100 hyperlinks without any problem. ID2.0.2 on W2K. Obly shows that there is no inherent 'ceiling' on the number of hyperlinks in an ID document.

Your problem truly is strange, maybe someone else will happen along with some ideas.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
