InDesign 2 and Photoshop transparency

I used a Photoshop7 image with a transparent background in an InDesign2 layout. In InDesign I placed a filled box of color behind the PS image then exported it as a screen resolution PDF for the client to proof. Here's where the problem occurs; It appears fine on the screen, but when printed on an inkjet, the color that lies behind the PS7 image darkens. The image is far too complex to create a clipping path accurately.
How do I fix this? Will this be a problem for a RIP?

You know.. its odd, I have had the same problem with 2 other files I worked on. We did a poster for somebody where I took a picture of thier Limo and then took that into Photoshop and knocked out the background, leaving the background transparent. In my Photoshop document, I had 2 layers. The top layer being the original image with the background removed, and then a transparent layer on the bottom. Saved as a .PSD. Took into InDesign 2.0.2 and placed said image over a solid black background. When I print, the "transparent" area of the photoshop image is clearly visable against the rest of the black that was placed in the InDesign document. I have never figured it out. Pisses me off too. Any thoughts on this fix would be great. Might try the Adobe Forums.. more people that I think.
