Have a friend who has a Compaq PC and she put IncrediMail on it - supposed to enhance Outlook Express. She didn't like it and wanted me to remove it. So I went to Start|Programs and did an Uninstall. I then checked through Windows Explorer and there were some remnants of the program remaining. I also noticed there were some Registry entries still remaining. I went to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, and could find no evidence of the program. I noticed there were some icons on her desktop pertaining to some subprograms associated with the IncrediMail and an icon having to do with a Windows update she stopped downloading as she didn't want to continue to stay connected (via her modem). Any recommendations as to what to do with removing the rest of IncrediMail. (I did suggest she complete the Windows Update.)
Thanks,
David

Does the application have an uninstall option? This is the preferred method of program removal.

"....and there were some remnants of the program remaining."

Delete them. Sometimes files and folders pertaining to the program remain after an uninstall so you have to delete them manually.

David,

You have to delete the registry entries manually.
Export the keys first.

Klick,
As I said, I went to Start|Programs and did an Uninstall "of the program".

Kento, thanks for the info.

Reghakr (IS/IT--Manageme),
How exactly do I Export the keys first?

Thanks,
David

I'll bet you have spyware that came with Incredimail. Go to Download.com and get ad aware. It is free and will remove all remnents of the program. Make sure you choose deep registry check in the options when you run it.

David,

How exactly do I Export the keys first?

In the registry select the key (looks like a folder) that you want to make the change to, then choose Registry>Export Registry File from the menu. Save it to your desktop. If things go wrong, double-click on it to undo the changes you made.

If all goes well, delete the registry file from the desktop.

i also have incredimail on my home PC and have debated removing it because it will not let me work on email wihtout being online - after a few minutes it freezes up and i lose everything...

my problem is how do i convert the email that i housed there back into a format that outlook will recognize?

by the way - i know this is a 95/98 forum; but this was where incredimail showed up when i did a search... my box at home is Windows XP...

thanks

However, the following does not look good for you...

---
First, while INcredimail allows you to import information from other email programs, it does not allow you to export to them. This means that you are "stuck" using this program unless you want to sacrifice those email messages.
---

You might want to try this, it's Shareware, but it does have a fully functional 15-day limit, enough hopefully, for you to migrate to Outlook or Outlook Express.

Try spybot

Also Norton Cleansweep - buy or borrow it load it. Re-install incredimail and let it monitor it and then use Norton to uninstall it. Spybot may not get rid of oall but might fix most of your problems. You can export from Outlook your personal folders then uninstall and re-install outlook.

Hope that helps
