Increase size of 'tool windows'

My colleague has Illustrator v10 and has recently been given a 19" TFT monitor which he has set at a resolution of 1280 x 1024.

He has already increased the Windows font size so that he can read all the menus but the one thing he is having trouble reading are the tool windows within Illustrator (eg: Tools, Colors, Layers, etc)

Is there a setting that will increas the size of these windows?

No. You can decrease screen resolution to increase the size of the information on the screen, or (don't laugh, it really works) use the magnifier in Windows if you're on PC.

thought as much - unfortunately, decreasing resolution isnt really an option due to the size of drawings involved.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but if someone can't read the palette info on a 19" 1280 by 1024, should they really be involved in professional visual arts? I have a laptop that runs 1280 by 1024 on a 17", my taskbar is only 1/4" tall, and I can read it no problem. It may be a matter of getting accustomed to it. As far as large drawings are concerned, you can scale them to fit the screen no matter what the resolution.
