I have a report that when previewing on either a win 98 or 2000 pc displays perfectly, however when printing on the 98 pc some, but not all, £ signs are printed as a 'u' with a '-' above it? This occurs on my developemt pc, when on the client pc the some of the £ signs appear ok but others appear as a $ sign. Both machines have the currency in £'s set up ok. Both print outs go to the same printer.
Anybody have any ideas?

Have you checked the Regional Settings in Control Panels. We had a similar problem with an Excel spreadsheet.

Or possibly, the font used in creating the report isn't available on the other machine. Mike

In Format Field/Number Tab/Customize, you can set your currency symbol explicitly for a selected field, which will over-ride the computer's regional settings.

It turns out ot be a known issue with the £ sign and Crystal 6 onwards. Seagate instructions are to set the font to times new roman, this cures the issue.

Following up on this issue...

I have set the font to "Times New Roman" and exported once again but am getting the same result... so I plan to make my own work around for this one.

I suppose I could enter the currency into one function and then replace all my currency fields with "string functions" that are a combination of the currency function and the actual quantity field.

This could be developed further....
