Incompatible Vs Waiting for line

HI All.

I have a customer who is querying the difference between the above. Sometimes when they call a number that doesn't work ( tested on different platforms PSTN,SIP and Mobile) the avaya system gives them different message from the same number dialled.

Scenario User A dials 07888888888 this will sometimes give them incompatible and sometimes will give them waiting for line.

They are running server edition 10.1 with gamma sip

I have checked support.avaya for some documentation but unable to find the exact definition to Avaya standards.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

waiting for line means there is no free line available for they system to attempt the call. either all channels in use or the circuit out of service
incompatible means the call ha been attempted & rejected somewhere within the PSTN, either with their line provider or possible the terminating end.

my gut feel on this particular case i that you have an error in your sip trunk configuration, resulting in Gamma rejecting the calls & then taking the trnk out of service for a period of time.
this could result in your users seeing both error conditions.


Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
 
I personally have never seen 'incompatible' returned as a PSTN error. I have only seen it as a user dialing error, like taking to long to dial, or dialing a number that doesn't exist as an extension or a short code.
