incoming ringing delay

is there any way the stop the delay a user gets when a ddi hits a extn befor the phone rings??? you hear 1/2 rings in your ear as a caller befor the phone on desk phisically rings i know this has been the way it has since network alchamy but we have a cust that is complaining also the delay when fwd to vm between your phone stopping ringing and vm answering

do you have caller id? i think you might be experiencing delay from the caller id. you are always going to have some sort of delay when caller id is being passed.
