Incoming DID not working on T1

I had a system die the other day and had to have a local tech go on site to reinstall and reprogram everything. We upgraded to 7.1 in the process. Things are mostly working but incoming DID is not. It is as if the digits are not being received from the telco however the telco has checked and said that the digits are being sent (4 digits). I'm wondering if he overlooked something in programming.

Service is a T1 (not PRI). Lines are configured as E&M, Wink Start. Target lines are set to receive 4 digits and are assigned to their respective DNs. DN Lengths >> Received # Length in Sys Programming is set to 4.

T1 Card is set to:
Card type: T1
CO fail: TIA-547A
Interface levels: ISDN
Framing: ESF
Internal CSU: On
CSU Line Build: 0 db
Line Coding: B8ZS

The only thing that I see there that looks possibly suspect at all is the CSU setting. I believe that the device upstream from the MICS has a built in CSU (Cisco router) so maybe that should be off. But that shouldn't have any affect in this case should it?

This guy was a Nortel veteran and he was stumped. Is there anything that may have been overlooked? I can post more details if necessary.

What happens when you call a DID number?
Why is the interface level set to ISDN?
You said you have a DS1 with E/M signalling & Wink-start, but is your service provider sending DTMF or MF?

A CSU would not cause a transmission issue, it deals with the DS1 pipe, not channels.

Does maintenance provide any diagnostic or monitor capability of the DS1 on the MICS?

If i remember correctly if you cant get DID to work or your not getting digits it rings the physical trunk.
Did telco actually have circuit up to test or where they going from paperwork

6 months until ski season starts...sadly i must resign myself to the warmer weather"this will include a normal 8-5 work day, 5 days a week"

hawks got it. Answer Mode was set to Manual, needed to be Auto. In addition, Answer With DISA had to be changed to No.

Setting the trunks to AUTO is pretty basic, sounds like your Nortel veteran had an off day...He either needed to do what hawks said or chg the first half of the T to DID so calls come in and the other half as E&M so you can make calls out. The way it was I'm sure he could call out just no incoming right?

Calls were coming in on the primary lines they just weren't getting assigned to target lines.

Primary lines being 1-12 (only half of T1 is dedicated to voice). Target line 160 for example is supposed to capture digits 1455 and then ring at extension 1455 where target line 160 is assigned to. That wasn't happening. If I assigned line 001 to extension 1455 as a test, an incoming call would ring there. So calls were coming in, but direct inward dialing was not working. The system was ignoring the 4 digits being sent and therefore not routing the call to the correct target line.

As norstarboy points out this is a pretty basic setting. After posting this question I actually found my answer in some other threads on this forum as it has been mentioned a few times at least.

I'm only a phone system part timer so this forum is a huge help.

norstarboy125,

DID trunks on DS1 use E/M signalling type 1! What did you think they used?
