Hi Guys, I hope someone can assist with this. I know next to nothing about the Siemens Hicom, but have some admin experience on other pbx systems.

We have a Siemens Hicom 150 in one of our offices, that has been running with no issues for quite some time. We have two ranges (different local exchanges) of DID numbers, along with a single number which goes to our auto-attendant. Recently, we ported out a single DID number from one of the ranges of numbers, to another telco. Coincidentally, or not, we lost the ability to call any of the other numbers within that range of DIDs from outside. It's a telco-type message, saying the number is no longer in service, and sometimes a multiple ring then time-out. The phone does not ring at the desk. There have been no changes to the station numbers on the pbx. The phones still work internally, and for outbound calls. The PRI looks good on our end. Nothing is obviously wrong on the pbx. the other range of numbers works fine, along with our main number.

Our carrier (Sovernet, now FirstLight) insists that the calls are showing in the log files, and are being rejected by our pbx. I just don't understand how the pbx would care about a specific range of DID numbers, as long as the terminating number is built.

Any thoughts on this? Is there something specific in the Lines that I should be checking more closely? Should I have something there that distinguishes the calls coming in between the two DID ranges?

thanks for any assistance. This is starting to become a headache for us.

Alan

Contact the carrier - maybe they are sending in the DID digits now in a different format - i.e. more digits are being sent in and therefore rejected by the Hicom 150.
You could prove it to them by asking them to put it back to the way it was - test - then ask them to change the one DID that you want and test again.

That was my first guess as well - that you may have been getting the numbers as 4 digits or 7 digits before and now you're being sent 10 digits or something else. Find out from the provider how many digits they are sending you, and if that recently changed.

That was it! When we ported out the number in the middle of the DID block last week, apparently they had to build out two separate blocks for the numbers remaining. When they did this, they started sending 10 digits instead of our expected 4. I had to make some test calls to both the working and non-working numbers to verify it in their logs, but they found it pretty quickly. Wish they had checked that when I first called them...

Thanks guys!

Glad you got it sorted - carriers are notorious for it.

It was fresh in my mind because I am getting my first ever PRI circuit that will come off the back of a Cisco switch and my tech warned me that the transport might be SIP and they might start sending me a different digit count, so I prepared by making DIDCR tables (on the HP4K) in case they send 7 or 10 digits so I can drop the unneeded stuff and end up with 4. I won't know now until they turn it up and I see what I get.

Glad to hear you got it figured out!
