Definitely one of those weeks where just nothing seems to work.

I am trying to set up an extension to call forward to a mobile and pass through the incoming callers CLI to the mobile.

The calls are coming in on an ISDN 2 and going back out over an ISDN 2 - I am doing both direct with no LCR or CPS involvement.

I have setup an unconditional forward on the extension and tested with the following shortcodes

Mobile Number
Dial
Mobile Number SS

and

Mobile Number
Dial
Mobile Number SSi

Neither work and the mobile just receives the ISDN number for the circuit here.

I then thought I would try it with twinning, so I made sure the send original calling party box was ticked on the System-->Twinning tab, but again the twinned call just shows the number for the ISDN circuit here rather than the momile number of the mobile I am making the test call from.

Im beginning to think our ISDN circuit isnt set up to allow this but thought I would ask on here first for anything else I could try.

Cheers.

Are you UK based?

if so this is not possible
you can only transmit a CLI that is valid for the circuit
(This can be changed on PRI circuits if you jump through enough hoops with BT but not BRI)

IPGuru - yep I am UK based. I thought that might be the case, thanks for the quick reply.

Just had a thought - what if I have the incoming on BRI and the outgoing on SIP?

You would need to confirmw with your sip provider if they can pass CLI in this way,
most reputable sip providers will now only pass registered numbers (like BT) but you may be able to get that restriction removed with enough paperwork.

This is intended to stop fraudulent calls being made with fake CLI 's so not a bad thing really.

Please see the below links for the number translation service required for the likes on One-X etc, the second link is out of date, and BT now offer Type 5 as an additional service on ISDN lines.

NTL/Virgin seem to have had this for a while, BT are a bit behind, but at least we know that we might be able to get this up and running.

Yep BT now offer type 4 and 5 cli.

However, a better way to do this with BRI is to use partial reirouting. You need to get BT to enable isdn call forward on the lines, and tick the box partial reirouting in the line config.

The call is delivered to the pabx, forwarded out again, but with an additon isdn messaghe saying reroute. Both isdn trunks are released so it is trunk effecient too

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

the only way round this is when a customer insists on forwarding the callers CLI is to sell them a couple of SIP trunks.

And the only way to get it to work properly with SIP is:
1) Turn off CLI Forwarding in the System > Twinning TAB
2) On your SIP line the first TAB select "Send Caller ID" to Diversion Header.

No dodgy short codes required, except perhaps a 9N short code to send your twinned mobile calls over the new SIP trunk.

BT do now offer type 4 & Type 5 but AFAIK only on PRI circuits
(as per my original post)
