Hello,

So, I'm new to the telephony game and am trying to understand my companies phone system. Right now, it appears that they have a MERLIN MAGIX system 2.0 v9.0 with MERLIN MESSAGING R2.

Right now, when someone calls on the main number, the call rings to all phones. This is how we want it. However, if the receptionist picks up and a second call comes through, it only rings twice at her desk.

I have a couple of questions for this one:

1) How do I extend the length of ring on the first call?
2) How do I make the second call ring to all phones?

Right now, I only have access to the system via the 4424LD+ administrator phone. The company outsourced the phone system and does not have the password to directly log in via WinSPM.

3) Anyone know how to reset the admin passwords?

If you don't have the documentation & manuals, you can download them from: support.avaya.com for free as PDF files. There is lots of good info in there! Avaya also has some good "How To" tutorials on their site that may help you. Reading and searching thru old posts on this forum is another source that can be useful for subject matter that keeps recurring!

If you have an SDMR printer connected to the Magix, you can print the System Setup or System Information. On the first page the password will be printed near the upper right portion of the page. You can then use it with SPM on a PC to access the Magix.

Hope this helps!

try this
Speaker #00 to enter programming
Press an SA button
Dial *342
dial #00 to exit programming

This can also be programmed thru the programming phone via the extension menu.

Feature is called Abbreviated Ring (off)

It is very difficult to help you - not knowing how this syetm is currently programmed. You need to get a copy of WinSPM - and load it on a laptop connected to the system - so you can both program the system, but more importantly - print out and post some of the programming reports. The PRI Info report and the Group Calling reports would be particularly useful.

I have WinSPM. I am very noobish. If you tell me where to go in WinSPM to get these reports, I can do that for you.

Do you know how to connect? Once you connect - click on the Standard SPM icon - this emulated a 20L operator phone. Press system program, start or exit, more, print, PRI Info - give it a file name and save it. press more, more Grp Calling, All and save that - the cut and paste.

I was able to get the digital lines to ring throughout the company but still can not get the T1 digital line to ring throughout.
