I have a existing Merlin Magix with a PRI with all calls going to auto attendant. They are adding new dept. with just 4 grd. start lines 8 digital phones and 4 to 5 analog sets and both groups will not share lines. On making outside calls would it be easiest to add the 4 trunks to a seperate pool and via ARS and FRL restrict groups? Also not being that familiar with the Magix, incoming calls they want to ring on all phones what is the best way to accomplish.

If the new lines and stations are a separate group not to be shared with the other folks that use the PRI, then they would need a pool assigned for their own use. The new group would use the pool code for outgoing access, unless you want everybody to use 9 (ARS). Then you will have to program ARS to accommodate the new group.

If you don't have the documents for the Magix, they are free for the download from support.avaya.com.

Don't put the 4 new analog lines in a pool, just assign them to the 8 phones as "private lines", they will share the appearances like a key system.

Lower their FRL so dialing 9 won't let them out through tye PRI.

Make one extension, or an adjunct, the Principal User for voice mail or Auto Attendant coverage.

If I add as private lines then the analog sets will not be able to access the outside trunks is this correct ? I thought I read if they are private lines they cannot be in a pool. How can I set it up for incoming if I cannot use as private lines ?

Sorry, I guess that's what happens when I try to read and post from a PDA!

OK, so you might want to put the new lines into their own pool, and give your 8 digital and 5 analog extensions "pool dial out" access to it.

Through some mass renumbering of everything that starts with an "8", like lines, pools, park, remote access, and LDN, (put them into something like the 600's instead of the 800's), you could renumber the new pool to 8.

Again, lower the extension's FRL so they can't get out through the PRI, but they can go off hook and dial 8 to get their own pool, then place their calls.

Put a Pool 8 button on each of them, with Immediate Ring for the incoming ringing.

You may want to make one of the an Operator position, so that you can assign the lines individually, and make any mailboxes have this extension as their Personal Operator for zero out of mailboxes, as well as the Dial-0/timeout from the Auto Attendant.

Alternativly, you could put the new pool in the ARS routes as the 1st route, with a HIGHER FRL, give the new extensions a matching FRL, but when the pool is filled, their outbound calls will fall to the PRI route.
