Hi All,

Despite a very impressive amount of help I've gleaned for other issues, this one I can't quite solve. Merlin Legend 6.1 v11, 2 408 boards, a 4 port legend mail (012), and an 012 T/R, 4 incoming lines, pooled. Things have been working great, until this morning. All of a sudden, a large number of callers are reporting that they have to attempt to call multiple times, as they get one ring, hear a 'click', and then nothing. Observing things, the console light shows the call coming in, then immediatly dropping. I've tried restarting, which didn't really do anything. The telco claims it is the Merlin, and I'm inclined to agree, as if I diconnect the individual lines, and connect them to a plain phone, they seem to work ok. Nothing outstanding in the error log, and all lights on the system are 'green'. Does anyone have any ideas of where I might start to troubleshoot this issue?

power down the system, remove all but the first 408 , call & see what happens , if still a problem start by removing all but operator , and add one by one station or lines it sound like you have a ring short some where , if every thing goes well then add the next module and the same test till you locate what is causing the problem

Ring TRIP" indicates a problem with your lines, usually ahead of the system.

I would disconnect each line, one at a time, and plug them into a SINGLE LINE SET, take that SINGLE LINE SET OFF HOOK and make a test call.

Considering you probably have a HUNT GROUP, it may be difficulet to determine which one is the bad boy, but if you can BUSY OUT the bad one (DOING AS I SUGGESTED ABOVE) then instead of RING TRIP, you should just hunt to the next GOOD ONE.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions! I 'ignored' the problem over the weekend, and oddly enough, today it seems to have miraculously dissappeared. I'm sure it will come back, though, but now I have a good diagnosis plan.

Thanks

-Darryl
