incoming caller id not working on phones with DNIS routes

We just upgraded our Norstar MICS to 6.1, with PRI channel and DID. Its very weird, phones that only have 1 incoming line show the incoming caller id, while phones that have multiple lines routed via DNIS do not.

I've got various bits of documenation, but coming from a Teltronics/SRX system, I'm having problems linking what I know to what the Norstar does and finding explanations in the documentation.

I've read some of the posts, and checked the FAQ's and am still feeling rather lost. I need better reference material than what I have, or at least a more detailed HOWTO on programming DNIS routes and advanced features of the sofware.

thanks in advance.

first is a verbage problem ...not dnis but DID yes or no dnis as in *digits* would not be comming across true pri...recieved digit asighned to target lines would..did u have a key code to enable the pri or is is a straight up plain t1

We have the DID interface in the system and a bank of DID numbers plus about 9 other numbers we ported from previous telco, and it is a PRI. I watched the technician install it, and do the initial programming, install the keycode(s), etc. The Tech seems stumped by this issue as well.

The Telco, provided to us a list of the digits they transmit for each of our incoming numbers which I refer to as DNIS since in my previous world incoming calls transmitted DNIS from the telco over the PRI, and the problem seems to be occuring on those phones that have more than 1 set of incoming numbers routed to them via the services routing options in the config.

I suppose, that if I requested the telco to not transmit DNIS for any numbers other than the bank of 20 DID numbers, and use translationn/forwarding methods instead, the problem would go away, but I'm sure curious about what might be causing this.

thanks.

I don't think I understand everything you've explained, so I don't have a 'great' answer... you said you have DID interface in the system... if you mean a DID trunk card with copper DID circuits, those will never have CallerID inbound on them--the DID spec doesn't support it.

If _everything_ is coming on on PRI, then the above would not apply.

Its all on a PRI. No copper coming into the PBX from the outside.

its very weird. I have one phone that correctly displays incoming caller id, and all the other phones appear to be configured the same way, at least when I look at the telco features setttings. If there is another setting elsewhere I need to compare, I don't know what that setting is.

thanks.

they ring, but will not display the incoming caller id until you either answer the phone, or enter the feature sequence to display the caller id. We'd like it to display before we pick up.

Check to be sure "Caller ID Set" is set to "Y" for each target line assigned to each set. This is found under Terminals & Sets-->Telco Features-->Feature Assign.

Under telco features, I have a prompt labelled
1st Display, but I am unable to find a prompt for Caller ID. I'm using v6.1, but if there are additional digits after the 1, I haven't figured out how to retrieve them yet.

oddly enough, I did see the Caller ID prompt once, but as I was looking over the tech's shoulder, I have no recall of what sequence he entered to get there.

anyway, the tech is coming by again this week, so I'm going to put the burden on him.
When he gets it working, I'll post the solution.

thanks.

Problem solved. User error in a big way. Seems that when the tech was showing me what to do, there wasn't enough emphasis on the fact he was using the configuration password. So, all my attempts to look, change, etc. were done using the administration password. Big difference in the menu options available.

Once he explained that little piece of the puzzle, I was able to go in and modify all the phones to enable caller id.

anyway, just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions, and to let you know the problem has been resolved.

Thanks again.
