Hi All

First of all, wanted to say thanks to all the pro's on this forum. Really appreciate your help and dialogue

I have 4 lines with Comcast Business Class. Trying to route the numbers to different phones via huntgroups. I have incoming call routes but i have a suspicion that the 'incoming number' has to be quite specific. I have had sporadic success with getting calls to come through depending on what i put in the Incoming call route Telephone number. For example, if i put the last 4 digits of the telephone number and called in for a while it worked. It has previously worked by entering the area code and full 7 digit number.

Am i right in saying that i have to call Comcast and find out exactly what is being presented from the modem to the IPO when a call comes in?

Thanks

you can route by incoming caller ID or by line port if you give the lines different incoming group ID's.
Analog lines are simple, all you get is caller ID, you always have the same number on the same port and depending on the provider you might get hunting (equivalence, rollover or whatever it is called by your provider)
if you have just single numbers then you will need to use the incoming group ID to separate the numbers, if you have a equiv group then you will never be sure that people actually called the line they come in on and you need to find a better solution

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.

When using analogue lines the incoming number field isn't used and should be left blank, the calls are routed by the incoming line group assigned to the line :)
