On our Merlin Magix 9 system we have an extension where the incoming outside calls always ring to the SA Voice button which is located above her SA Ring button. How do I make calls ring on the SA Ring button instead?

You need to go into centralized programming for that extention, press any of the bottom 2 leftmost buttons (below the display) - press list feature, press autolineselect - and then press the bottom leftmost button first - then press enter.

The phone on the extension is a 4406d+, so I don't think I have the necessary display options. How else can I do this?

Centralized programming is done from the operator console (4424 LD+) - not the actual extention.

Well, that did not correct the issue, and now the phone does not automatically pick a line when the user begins dialing with the number pad.

From Centralized Telephone Programming, press ANY of the SA Buttons, dial *14, then press the SA buttons in the order you want them used on OUTGOING calls, then dial **14. This is Auto Line Select, again for Outgoing.

Then, in System Programming > Extensions, press more until you find Line Preference, see that it it turned on.

My question is not regarding outgoing calls. I am talking about incoming calls. The incoming calls are coming in on an (SA II) set for voice/intercom instead of (SA I) which is set for ring. The problem is that the worker often needs to put a caller on hold and intercom someone within the building, but since the call originally comes in on the intercom button, she cannot.

How do I make the incoming call come in on the other SA button #1 instead of #2?

You could change her SA-Voice button to SA-Ring through centralized programming. OR - Do you have other Magix 4406's in the system that work the way you want? If so - copy the line appearances from that extention to this one and see if it changes the button incomming callls ring on. Press menu, system program, start, extentions, line copy, single, enter ext number to copy from and press enter - then enter the problem ext number and press enter. Let me kbnow if that made a difference.

The other 4406d+ phones do work the way I want them to, and I had tried copying a few of them. However, I am getting the same result every time. Incoming calls are always received on the second SA button instead of the first.

Have you checked to see if the first SA button has been changed to an originate only?

Do a printout of the extension and post it if you can.

Well - if the phone is not using SA-Voice - change the SA-Voice button to just a plain system access button in centralized programming - and touch the button again to verify that it is now SA-Ring-I.

The reason I directed you to reprogram the Automatic Line Selection for Outgoing calls, is
now the phone does not automatically pick a line when the user begins dialing with the number pad.

Change the SA Ring button to SA Voice, then no matter which SA button the call arrives on, she will be able place a voice call to a coworker.

Hear me now, and understand me later.....

The ORIGINATOR decides if the call will be delivered as a VOICE CALL or a RING CALL, UNLESS.... the receiver has turned off VOICE ANNOUNCEMENT on their phone.

SO, under CENTRALIZED PROGRAMING, go to the extension wanting RING ONLY and set Voice Announce RECEIVE to OFF.

But these calls are coming in from outside callers. Outside callers cannot pick which of the buttons on which their calls will appear.

The problem is that the calls are NOT coming in on the RING button. They are coming in on the VOICE button, although the phone actually does ring since the call is external.

The problem is that since they appear on this button, the answerer then does not have the ability to call someone internally with the VOICE button since it is then occupied.

OK - so follow Touchtone Tommy's advice and change her one SA-Ring button to a 2nd SA-Voice button - and she will have a route to call an internal extention over the speakerphone.

But then the caller will only be able to make VOICE calls to internal extensions.

I though that's what she wanted to do?? If not - she will have to give up one of her other programmed buttons - and you would need to replace it with another SA-Ring or SA-Voice button. What happens if you replace her phone with another 4406D - do the calls still ring in on the SA-Voice button??

Dammy, MY BAD, I misread the problem.

All incoming calls are delivered to SA Voice.

To make an SA Button RING ONLY (NOT VOICE) - go into Centralized Programming for that extension, touch the button and dial *16.

That will make it a RING BUTTON, and if that's all the extension has, that's what calls will come in on.
