One of my user accidentally deleted his inbox Icon,
is there a way to recreate his inbox icon without recreating his user profile oin the server. I checked his mail file on the server and his inbox icon was also deleted.
or is there a work around on this? pls help. tnx.

By inbox icon, do you mean the bookmark on the bookmark bar? Restoring the bookmark is as simple as right-clicking the database icon in the workspace and bookmarking it back to the bar.

Could you clarify? "One fish, two fish,

Red fish, blue fish."

it's actually the inbox folder that was deleted(where the sent, draft, all documents, archive and trash folder is also located).in the left pane when you open your inbox. Im looking for way to re-create this because it was accidentally deleted by one my user. is there way for this?
would appreciate your help on this thank you very much.

If you're saying that there's no longer a left frame containing the inbox and other folders, most likely the user resized the frame down to nothing. If you run the mouse along the left border (between the bookmark bar and the main frame), the resize symbol ought to come up and you can drag the frame back to its normal size.

If you try this and there's no resize cursor to speak of, check out the user's mail frameset in Designer. There should be two frames. If not, add the left frame and modify appropriately or copy the frameset over from another user. (If you don't know how to do this, I highly recommend you either hire a consultant to teach you some basics or take a class on Notes. It sounds like you could use some help.)

Hope this does the trick.

i believe thats not the case, i can still see the left frame and all the icons and folders in it(sent, all documents, etc) except for the inbox. and im looking for a way to re-create this.
tnx!

Inbox is simply another folder within the database. Copy and paste it from the mail50.ntf template file using Domino Designer. That should do the trick.

It works!
Thanks Friend! I owe you one.

You could also refresh the design of the mail database if this ever happens again.

Refreshing design only works if you have your database set to inherit from the template. Most of my company's users no longer have this setting (everyone wants custom settings it seems), so I never assume anyone else does. But yes, that should work as well. :)

Yes, refreshing the design template helped us. (we do have it set to inherit the design from the template.) Thanks for the info!

ive had the same problem, but when i refresh the design, the Inbox is empty. Is there a way to restore the incoming mail to the Inbox?
As it stands, all new mail arrives in the Inbox, but the user wants the old mail restored as well.

cheers for any help.

I've also experienced the same problem similar to Chris as well. We refreshed a users design and all of his old mail were gone from the inbox view, but in the all documents view. We then copied the emails from the all documents view to the inbox view to resolve, but I want to know if this can be prevented. Some users want their old mail in the inbox view after the design is refreshed without copying and pasting them from all documents. Can this be done?
