INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE 1

I have a Windows 2000 SP4 Server - Dell Poweredge SC420.

There were a few powercuts this morning and after the third one, I get as fas as the OS boot screen and then I get a blue screen with the following error:

'XXX STOP:0X0000007B(0X82051030, 0XC0000032, 0X00000000, 0X00000000) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

I've tried 'Last known good configuration', it doesnt work - I get the same error.

If I do a repair installation - will I lose all the software configuration? (The server in question is an application server)

Would anyone know how to fix from the Recovery Console?

The symptoms described are somewhat similar, but thats for a PE 2450 & I have a PE SC420 - also I didnt update anything - do you think this solution will work if I replace the Perc2.sys file?

The server in question is about 50 miles away and I'd like to have my solution in place before I drive over.

If I do a Manual repair installation, and select only 'Inspect Startup environment' - would this be worth it??

It wouldn't hurt, but I would also recommend having a copy of the driver available if that doesn't work for you. Bare in mind that the PE SC420 may not be using the same driver file (ie Perc2.sys)

I would have to agree with a bad perc driver. Had the same thing happen to me. Used ERD Commander to boot the system up and copied a new perc driver to the boot disk, then rename it to Ntbootdd.sys and restarted. Worked great but I think this will only work if your server was upgraded from NT (Which mine was).
