Hello - I had a question I was hoping someone could please help me with the following question - If you had an unlimited budget in what order would you deploy the following technologies in your company?
A. Firewalls
B. Network Intrusion Detection system
C. Anti Virus
D. Reporting
E. Authentication mechanism/ strong 2 factor authentication
F. URL Filtering
G. Anti- Spam
H. VPN

And if you could provide an explanation of why it would be most helpful - Thank you sooooooooooo much!

one idea (however even with unlimited budget it would depend on the situation and what you want/need to achieve (first):

1) Antivirus
2) Firewall
above 2 are so essential, you should already have them!
the next ones really depend on what you want first
3) Anti-spam (because can become a real nuisance)
4) Network intrusion detection
5) Reporting (because the more tools you have the more you needs interesting reports to tell you what's happening)
6) Authentication mechanism/ strong 2 factor authentication (because I would use it for the VPN's)
7) VPN
8) URL-filtering (don't really know where to put this fellow)

Let me know what you think about this !

Thanks gdvissch - Your answer was most helpful. I do more than understnad what you mean about the SPAM problem, I actually work for a network security company and we just implemented a product that we sell called commtouch and it works absolutely wonderfully! If you are interested in hearing more about it let me know. Thanks again for all your help!

You're welcome, I stopped responding a while back when noone seemed to care if they got a response or not (maybe they used some of the tips but never let the one answering know if it helped) Now that I see some people do care maybe I'll start answering some other questions :)

Well I'm glad I could help you and I will look at commtouch as I recently got a request for software like this. I was looking at freeware stuff based on bayesian filters, this look very promising too...

Well it sounds like you are a pretty knowledgable person and it would be a shame if people like me couldnt get your help on things. I know some people are pretty ungreatful, but hey I guess that is just how they are ) :
I have never heard of Bayesian Filters, I am going to have to look into this. Thanks again so much and I hope you will keep answering questions - Have a geat Friday!
