In Microsoft Word is a shared document affected by the user's local normal.dotm template?

If I have a set of documents in a folder on the network, does the document behave differently if I open it as compared to if another user opens it? Our normal.dotm's are local. When I say "behave" I mean tabbing and styles.

I would make a back up copy of my normal.dotm, change as much as I can to normal.dotm in Word, then open your document from your server and see what will happen.

You can always replace your messed normal.dotm with your 'clean' back up.

Have fun.

And thus a very good reason to NOT use local normal templates for documents. If the documents on the networks use a network based template, then it does not matter who the local user is that opens it.
