Hi,
I got a question on using Impromptu Report.

Is it possible to paste your own query in an Impromptu Report? Instead of using the drag and drop functionality.

Would appreciate any input you may have.

Thanks.

Yes, if you mean the SQL, but you lose any further drag and drop ability.
With a copy of a report open, select report > query from the menu bar, click on the 'profile' tab and then the SQL radio button. Holding down Ctrl-Alt-Shift, click on 'Edit' box. You'll now have a 'Magic SQL' window in which you can cut and paste your SQL.

Thanks drlex,
What if the Edit button does not show in the window?
It only display the Copy button.

By default only the Creator user class has privileges to edit SQL. The priviliges can be switched on for lower-level user classes but they are not on by default. Try connecting as Creator - hopefully this should give you edit capabilities.

Regards,

MF.
