I have been using heidiSQL to import a .sql file. On the toolbar, it has the option Import-Load SQL-file.
Once that step is complete, I click on the execute sql button which then brings up an error message, "SQL Error: Table 'time_zone_name' was not locked with LOCK TABLES
I am however unsure if I am supposed to execute the file after loading it since it does not display any tables or any data.

I have also been working on navicat which allows for more files types to be imported including access but .sql is not in their list.

Where could I be going wrong?

could somebody help out?????

i'm using version 3.0 RC2, but i don't have that particular toolbar option

anyway, the toolbar option "Im-/Export" is for data files

if the file is an .sql file, then it should contain sql statements, not load data

to run an .sql file, i always open it in the query tab

go to a query tab for your database, and look for the "Load SQL from Textfile" button, which is the 3rd button after "Execute SQL" and "Execute Selected SQL"

I tried the above method. It seems to work. Once I load sql from text file, I clicked on execute sql. It now displays all tables under database column. However I thought there was a problem when the program stopped responding.

Was i supposed to click on execute sql?
