I have been given the task of creating a new access database. The current database is Lotus Approach and the autonumbers generated are used for product reference numbers which are in constant use. I have created an append query to change the initial number in the new database so the first number generated will run consecutively after the last number in approach. Is there a way to import the records (and their associated reference numbers) from Approach into the new Access autonumber field?

I don't think you can import numbers into an AutoNumber field. You'll have to change data types to do it.

Thanks Garth,

I've decided to use an alternative method using a form to update the field instead as there doesn't appear to be any other way.
