I need to import data from two MS Access tables into one MS project.

What would be the best way to do this whilst preserving the data integrity?

I have had a look at the standard open file click to change filetype to MS Access option, but it appears to quite problematic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Benzo.

hi,
i had the same problem of exporting and importing data from and to excel, checkout the sourceforge.net website. you will find MPX API that is developed using java, to read and write to MS Project. Hope this is useful to You.

We were cutting and pasting data from back and forth between Access, Excel, and Project. We wrote some module code that opens the Project or Excel file, reads the data on the linking field, picks out the same from Access, and inserts. It works. Can't open Project or Excel while the code is running, and the code is not fast nor simple. But, it does save us hours of labor.

That is the direction we took to solve the problem. You can cut and paste columns and blocks of columns, if the key field (what would be the linking field in a query) matches. This is where the cut and paste method has hazards - easy to mess up! When we put data to and from Excel we have crosscheck areas that have a column that crosschecks the linking field to make sure the paste data is ok. We still use cut and paste to Excel for Excel files that are not standardized enough for code to handle, or where the process is simple enough to just not worry about coding it.
