Backups were made and recovered from. Then the server died. After reinstalling the server and CommVault Galaxy Expres (5.9 from Dell) I need to import the now "Unidentified Media".

How? Have the new install of CommVault "Stamp" the media?

I am sorry if this is a basic question, but I have looked and have not found the answer.

In the DR test environment, I did the following.
1. Install commserve (use the same name and ip address)
2. Install the latest service pack
3. do a commservDR restore from your latest DR backup. (following steps for a commserve/media agent).
4. After the DR restore install the media agent and reload the service pack.
5. Go into library and drive configuration and select the media agent. That should bring up the old configuration. Then detect the devices and it should state there are no new devices. Finally right click the library and select configure. That should be it.

I screwed up at the DR site because I did not do the rebuild in that order. I did commserve, media agent, DR restore and then service pack.

Why is Galaxy seeing this media as 'Unidentified'?

Have you run a full scan on your library?

The media agent gets installed after the DB is restored.
