I have Office XP Standard. I want to fax some resumes to some contacts. I utilize Outlook as contact database program. However, when I am in my Microsoft Word Doc (Resume), I indicate print to fax. The Fax Wizard comes up and asks me who i want the fax to go to. I notice however, that the contact info that comes up is from my Old Outlook Express contact DB, and not my current Outlook file. So I need a way to either make Outlook the default that the Mic roSoft Fax Wizard is looking at, or a way to export Outlook to Outlook Express. You would think Updating the Out. Exp would be simple, but all attempts have failed. File types incompatible, etc...Why can't Outlook and Outlook Exp figure out what eachother are doing? Why is something that seems to be so simple be so hard. I Welcome any suggestions!
Thanks

Frank

Have come across the problem as well. Outlook express uses the windows address book, as does the FAX wizard.

The workaround I used was from technet and it involves exporting your contacts to a .csv and then importing into the Windows Address Book. Not the perfect solution as usual from microsoft, but at least it's a workaround.

Here's the technet article.

Yeah I finally fugured out that .csv stuff. I mean how difficult can we make a simple export/import process..

Thanks though,
You know that once I got that stuff done I STILL couldn't get thew fax Wizard to actually send a Fax. I put in a few numbers...Modem dialed o.k., but it seemed for each number it tried I got the message...dialing...(some other message, can't remember)...busy. and then it would move onto the next number and give me the same message. I know I heard the dial tone and all, so I assume my modem is communicating with the phone line. I was also hearing like muffled voices in the background or something. I reviewed the fax setup (tried to make sure everything outside my area code had a 1 dialed first, although I never saw the 1 on the dialing screen). Never did get anything faxed. I wish I had a dollar for every hour I have spent trying to get this damn computer to send a simple fax! Tried WinFax pro from Semantec (Junk), tried some other software (Junk), still trying...doesn't look like the Fax Wizard is the answer either. In '95 I got a faxing software from a Gateway Laptop. It wasn't the friendliest thing, but it worked fine. I could fax my resume to 20 different prospects at on time...What a concept! Faxing from the computer should be as easy as e-mailing...Hey Bill? Should I still be waiting after you gouged me for $430 for Office XP? FOr that price Office Should atleast be able to make coffee, much less fax a single to document to multiple locations...

I'm sorry, I digress
I appreciate your input bro!
