I've got a DB I manage - built long before my time. One of its daily function is to import supply reports that are in TXT format.
Unfortunatly, the format of the TXT files have changed on me and I now have to get this import to work again. What has me stumped is the 'Specification Name'. Since the transfer type is set to 'Import Fixed Width' I am assuming that the Specification Name is a setup for how wide each of the fields are.

I think I can fix my import problem if I can just figure out how to look at or edit the specification name. But for the life of me I cannot find where to get this information.

Anyone have any good ideas?

IIRC you can view saved import specs via:

File > Get external data > import

Change the file type to "Text File" then browse and select a text file as if you were going to import it manually. On the next window press the Advanced button. On the windows after that press the Specs button. This should present you with a list of all the saved import specs within the database.

HTH,

Ed Metcalfe.
