I have an sql script which will insert multirow data to 4 tables, in the passed I have from an MS-DOS prompt entered a command something like;

mysql < insert.sql

I keep getting told this is a bad command or file name - any ideas, Im sure this has worked fine inthe past

Thanks

Looks like it can not find either your mysql server or your insert.sql file. "bad command or file name" does not sound like a mysql error, but a windows one.

Try logging on the your SQL sever by just a plain command:

mysql

Then check the location of your SQL file.

Cheers,

Just in case

full syntax of that import command

c:\mysql\bin\mysql -u user -ppassword DBname < c:\path\filename.sql

I have been happy throughout my life in thinking that samba was I kind of dance; now I live with Linux and all I do is working.
