When I import a scanned CMX file into Corel 10 the image comes in at the above of all other images on the page and will not be sent back throught the other image levels. Is it possible to convert the CMX image so that I can move it up and down through the other image levels as per an image created in Corel?

CMXs are usually vector files and not bitmaps. Any particular reason you're not scanning to the Photopaint native format? It's not clear what you mean by "image levels" - are you referring to Layers? And if so, do you *really* mean layers (where you've physically defined a number of layers in the Object Manager... or are you referring purely to the stacking order?

Thanks Javabear.
I am bringing the image in as a vector file as I wish to colour and manipulate it in Corel. I am unclear on the jargon in relation to layers but basically all I am trying to do is move the image I import behing existing images in the design (which it won't do). In relation to Photo paint I am afraid I have no experience with this program so scanning to native format is new to me. Any more info would be gratefully accepted.

um, scanning it and saving it as a CMX file does not make it a vector file - it's still a bitmap regardless of what extension you give it. You can't scan to a vector file - all scans are bitmaps.

Ok, as you can see my knowledge of computer jargon is not good but I still have the same problem, any suggestions?

I just realized I have left out one process, I am tracing the scans and that it was I am bringing in as a CMX, does this make sense?

ah, yes, that was an important step (the tracing) that you didn't mention - that would make it a vector. Have you cleaned up the trace to elminate items that aren't needed? (like did the background wind up being traced, too?) So, you've imported it in and you can't move it up/down in the stacking order? Are they on the same layer? Look in the Object Manager to see if they're on the same layer or not - you can also move items up/down in the stacking order via the Object Manager.

It seems that I have stumbled on the answer to this problem. When importing there was a button ticked in the import window in regards to maintaining layers, un ticking this button frees the image and allows you to move it through the layers.
Thankyou for all your help
