importing buttons from fireworks

dear all,

having "created" a standard button from the fireworks library, I'd like to import this into a DW template for use as a menubar.

However, when i import the "page" from fireworks, and check out the result on my local server, the buttons are static - no rollover etc., whereas they were designed with "up" and "down" properties.

Ifg I just try to export the button, it ends up as a gif or jpeg image, not a png.
can anyone help?

I am new to this but I believe you have to select animated GIF from the optomise pallet and then export everthing,slices etc, not just the image.
