I have an excel sheet which is my resource scheduler. It holds the names of my employees and the jobs they are assigned to now and in the future weeks. Is there any way to import this excel sheet into MS-Poject so I can get a clear overview of the resource schedule?

I tried this before and it is not a very pleasnt experience when duration is involved. If you want to import a task list you can easily do it.

Simpler way may be like this.

1) Create a sample project wirh 3 tasks as a, b, c,
2) Export the project as Excel in format you require. You may appreciate this when you do the export and compare the output.

3) Format your data in the format of experted project ( as in step 2)
4) Import the export the Excel in to Project.

Good luck.

If it is just a one time effort, a Cut and Paste will save time and agony.

Ironically, SureTrak Project Manager has had this capability since version 1.5, including automatic building pivot tables. If you are not locked into MS Project you may want to look at SureTrak, which is made by Primavera. Some advantages include the ability to flip among WBS, PERT, GANTT and Activity views, the fact that it correctly computes earned value and correct resource leveling.

I'm not sure I understand the requirement. MSProject already has the functionality to do what you want. Are you trying to translate the spreadsheet into a Project schedule? If so, you should be able to use the import function. I have used it a number of times without too much difficulty. One trick is to create a project that contains one example of the kind of information you hope to see. Then export it into excel. Match your data up to the exported data so the formats are the same. Then import your excel spreadsheet into Project. It should work pretty smoothly.

Good luck, hope this helps.
