First - can this be done? Secondly - if so, how? I'm not a SQL Server expert and I'm assuming the .DAT file was produced by a backup operation on the 6.5 server.

Thanks in advance!

You can not restore a SQL 6.5 backup directly to SQL 2000. You will need to find SQL 7, and restore it to SQL 7 first. Then backup the SQL 7 database and restore that the SQL 2000.

Sorry for the bad news.

Looks like I'll be taking the long road home - thanks for the help!
