I produce a small newspaper in InDesignCS. I often place advertiser pdfs into my InDesignCS document and export the finished document to pdf and send to my web press printer. I have done this for a couple of years and have not had any problem.

Recently, certain pdfs I have placed into my document drop their images when I export the file to pdf. I've gone into the problem pdfs and found that they were created with Quark 6.1 & Quark 6.5. The only difference I could find between them and the pdfs that export correctly is that the problem pdfs have a custom property called: Xpress Private which is found in Document Properties in Acrobat.

Could this custom property cause images to drop or have I unwittingly set some preference in InDesign. If it is a problem with custom property, is their some way to workaround this problem? Has anyone else faced this issue?

Any input would be gratefully received.

Indesign PDFs have sometimes caused problems for me and I've found that reverting to my old ways has solved the problem - print a postscript file and run it through Acrobat Distiller. I use ID's pdfs for proofs, but don't trust it for the final version, so I distill it.
