i have images with alpha channels (not clipping path) placed in my document from PS 6.0...and the printer told me any vector art that crossed the bounding box of the images was getting converted to raster art when he tried ripping the file. i have updated to 9.0.2(which should fix this bug) but i cannot find any info anywhere on how to fix this problem on my files created prior to the update.
any help would be greatly apreciated!!
-thank you
bob

Illustrator 9.0 fully supports placed .psd documents which dont need alpha channels or clipping paths. You can place your layered document complete with invisible backrounds into illustrator without worry.

i have done that,(placed as .psd) that is how i brought the images in... they change the vector art to raster(the printer/service beauro told me they notice it while ripping to the printer)...it's the most frustrating thing because i have about 80 images imported(placed) that way and everyone i've talked to even @ adobe can only point me to change everything to clipping path....which messes up the soft edges i need from an alpha channel/transparent background
-thanks anyway

Bob,
Just wondering what you ended up doing about the problem. Im sure its probably a little late but I assume copying all the art from one doc and pasteing it into a new one might work.
