Imported image becomes negative when exported as PDF

Well this is a curly one guys.

I've got an image (it's our letterhead banner) which I'm using on a layout (Estimate) that ultimately gets exported as PDF - so it looks exactly like a normal estimate printed on a piece of our company letterhead.

On the layout it looks fine. When I export it to PDF though, the image is a negative (ie the white bits are black and the black bits are white.)

WTF???

I found the answer elsewhere - this is a bug. You have to set the JPEG to RGB, not CMYK and then it works. V silly!!!
