We perform a daily scheduled full backup on a no. of drives on our Compaq Windows NT/4 Server using BrightStor.

One of these drives contain large no. of folders/files i.e. c. 1.5 million folders, 1.5 million files.

When we did a restore from backup of this drive we find that 1 folder & about 1% of the files from this folder & other folders are missing.

Any ideas? I'd appreciate some help.

Maybe it is an issue with our disk possibly a dodgy FAT table ?

How can we check the no. of folders/files on the backup tape?

Thanks,
Phil Cunningham.

Use the restore by session GUI and drill down into the folders, then check the right pane for the list of files. See if the files are listed in the DB. If they are, try to restore that individual file.
hope this helps

Also verify that your backup job has them selected i have found that if a job has a partially selected section in the backup job it will not always update automatically.

Just double check the backup settings.
