import slot command???

okay..im new at this veritas software. im currently using backup exec. 8.5 on w2k server. everytime i change my media i have to do an import slot command. is there a way to automate this command with out me being in the console gui? do i need a script for this? cuzz my back up wasnt able to run over the weekend...:(
 
You should not have to do an import unless you are using a tape robot.

If you use a robot you can write a .CMD-file to run which will execute the import command.

Like this:
bemcmd.exe -o080 -a"compaq 1" -s1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10

where -a is the robot name and -s is the slots to import.

But you only need to do that when you add or remove tapes which would require that you are by the machine anyway, so just doubleclick the .CMD-file and you're done.

joben...i shouldve been more precise on what equipment im using. as for media storage im using a DDS 4mm ibm. its kinda wierd that veritas uses a seagate driver for this but its working fine. so im willing to try to use these commands but do you think itll work? i would to physically be at the console all the time to the import slot command.
