I have a question for you all...In MAS 90 i would like to IMPORT INVOICE's made from another system. The other systems can export to excel or ASCII file or comma dilimited file. Does anyone know the File layout for MAS90 in reguards to INVOICE. Thank you for any help....

You would import using the VI module?

If so, within the VI module is the Data Dictionary. Take a look at that. It will answer most questions I think.

Thank you Blorf for your response...I do not have MAS 90 infront of me at this point in time. But, apparently MAS90 calls their Import Module VI.......and my answer is yes to your question of "You would import using the VI module?" Since i do not have MAS 90 i dont have the ability to look at the Data Dictionary that would give me the info needed to make this export file of invoices....is that DD anywhere on the net that you know of? Thanks again.

I imagine it is, but I don't know where to look. If you don't have mas 90, how will you write the vi job?

so are you implying that I can not create a export file(excel or ASCII) from another system and just import that file into Mas90? i have to write somethin in VI for mas90?

Mas90 doesn not have Field Mapping?

This sounds like very old outdated technology....atleast to me it does.

Hi. Now I understand.

No, you can't just odbc to the data and post using external software. There is a writable ODBC source some where, but it doesn't work.

There is a SQL sever version that you could do that with, but most people don't have it, myself included.

You will need to use the VI to import. Outdated, probably, but it is what it is.

thank you much for your reply....Yeah...that is kinda what i was looking for, i guess that VI will have to do. I dont care if it is old and out dated or not...I dont use it. I am just making a export/import file for a friend of mine for it... personally i like Peachtree...b/c you can import a comma dilimited file and just map the fields.....makes it nice and easy......it that kinda what VI does? Never seen it before....

Vi is similiar. It's strength I suppose is that even if you are only importing into one table, all related tables and actions that need to be performed are done.

It can read from a csv, or an odbc source also.

It is a bit of a trick. I read the manuals myself, and was left still needing to take a class to use it.
