Hi,

Is there a simple and painless way to import mail and other settings from Thunderbird?

ACT only gives options for, Outlook Mail or Internet Mail.

Also - is it recommended to use the ACT email system or stick to an external one.

If I use an external one i guess there's no way of linking the two?

Thanks,

As for 'Thunderbird', I am unsure as I have never used that program.

As for ACT's email client, however, you can really go either way. For the most part, if you use Outlook you can still take advantage of a lot of ACT's tracking and automated history options; ACT installs an extension in Outlook for you to make those features available.

There are, however, some features in ACT's email client that are pretty exclusive, like sharing contacts & appointments with other ACT users.

There is no tool to import from TB.

I personally prefer to use Outlook as my email systen and never touch the ACT! Email client.

Melagan, the problem with sharing contacts via ACT! Email is that it needs both to be on the same version. Easier to export to Excel and attach it.

Similar with appts. With ACT! 6, it supported vCal/vCard... needs a few more to request it and they might add it back.

We've just moved to Thunderbird as the spam filtering capabilities of TB are excellent - almost as good as Google Mail.

So, what steps do I take in ACT to create some sort of link?

In ACT we only get the option of importing from outlook or Internet Mail. Do I select internet mail?

Thanks

I don't think you'll be able to link to TB. If you use Internet Mail, ACT! will send/receive directly to the SMTP/POP3 servers

Hey thanks for that - so I could just set the internet options as those of our pop3 and smtp servers?

Does ACT have any inbuilt spam filtering?

Thanks,
